The key aims of this course are to look at the current legal framework for legally protected species, notable habitats and designated sites in relation to woodlands, and to provide information for minimising the risk of delays to a woodland management programme or of bad publicity or prosecution.

Issues to be covered will be: legally protected species such as breeding birds, badgers, bats, great crested newts and water voles; invasive plants subject to legal controls (Japanese knotweed, giant hogweed, ragwort); notable habitats and designated areas (SSSIs, SACs etc.)

This course is part funded through the Defra VTS Scheme. Please call Katherine McNidder on 01952 432769 to check your eligibility within this scheme.
