This course
will comprise two main elements:
Charcoal production and ‘cleaving
and weaving’. You will learn how
to stack a charcoal kiln, control
a burn and make a saleable product.
During the burn you will learn
the fundamental skills that you
will need to make coppice products.
The techniques
of ‘cleaving and weaving’ are used
in some form
in almost every product that
you will make from coppice material:
cleft fencing, wattle hurdles,
hedging, basketry, woven willow
work, turnery and many more.
