The Northern Green Gathering is a small volunteer run environmental/educational gathering. It is an annual four day camping event held at an organic farm just outside Pontefract.

This was the Green Wood Centre's first visit to the NGG, organised by Katherine McNidder with Richard Thomason from the Light is Life project and GWC apprentice Ben Kelleher demonstrating willow work and working with green wood. We also took a yurt for the Green Wood Cente and Light is Life exhibition.

Richard Thomason demonstrated willow weaving and was also on hand for advice on coppicing and woodland management.

Ben Kelleher spent the weekend demonstrating spoon and bowl carving and Katherine McNidder tried her hand at spoon carving as well as giving out information on the Green Wood Centre and our courses and events.

Richard's willow arbour now has a permanent home in the on-site permaculture garden and the organisers have invited the Green Wood Centre to come back next year to design and build a willow centrepiece with local willow worker Jim Burrans.
