What’s
happening at Cherry’s Café and
Woodland Hall this Autumn?
It’s looking like a pretty busy
run up to Christmas that’s for
sure.

Starting
Sunday 23rd October
The café will be offering a
traditional Sunday roast lunch
using the best of locally
produced meats and fresh
seasonal veg. The Main course
will cost £6.95 and starters
from £4.50 and puds at £3.95 so
it won’t break the bank. It is
the perfect stop off after a
Sunday morning walk with
children/dogs or whatever. And
we are fully licensed so you can
imbibe over lunch. All our meat
is from Wenlock Edge Farm, our
veg will be fresh – no frozen
stuff – and not forgetting the
very yummy vegetarian
alternative. As always the
welcome will be very warm.
Served 12 – 3 no need to book
but please do so if you want to
reserve a table.
Half Term Week
We
are running a fun competition
for kids. All they need to do is
draw a self portrait on an A4
piece of paper. There are three
age classes and a £5.00 cash
prize for the winner of each
class. Entry is free and the
portraits will be displayed in
the Hall throughout the half
term week (don’t forget we are
closed Mondays and Tuesdays). We
are looking forward to seeing
some creative talent!
Saturday 12th November
Local contemporary folk group
Flaxenby playing in the Woodland
Hall. We have had some great
folk evenings and this should
prove to be just as enjoyable.
Tickets are only £5.00 so it’s
good value for money. Concert
starts at 8.30 p.m. Cash Bar and
Café open from 6.30 for pre
concert dinner.
Sunday December 4th
is
the date for the first of our
Christmas events. The emphasis
for the Christmas market will be
on Food but no doubt there will
be other interesting things to
nab on the day. Word has it we
will be selling Christmas trees
too. More details to follow but
they are likely to include
Mulled Wine and other goodies!
Sunday 11th December
You can really get into the
festive spirit at our Christmas
Craft & Gift Fayre, now in its
3rd year. Free entry between
11.00 – 4.00 p.m. It is a great
opportunity to snap up something
a bit different for that
Christmas gift. All proceeds
from the event go to Leukaemia
Research who will also be
running a Tombola.
And on a final note if you are
planning a party at
Christmas/New Year and are
daunted by the thought of
catering for the event just ask
us, we can tailor a menu to suit
you.
We have got lots of events
planned for 2012 so keep an eye
on this page...

8th October 2011
Last year’s Apple Day was a resounding
success and this year it hopes to be just
as good. The centrepiece will be the beautifully
restored traditional twin-screw apple press,
a piece of equipment dating back to the
mid-19C. It requires nothing but muscle
power to operate them and last year was
busy all day, pouring out some 200 gallons
of apple juice.
Shropshire Apple Trust who are responsible
for having restored the equipment and organising
the event are again inviting people from
all over the County (and beyond) to bring
their apples in the two weeks prior to
the event. Bring as many apples as possible
- of whatever variety - and take them to
the Green Wood Centre.
