Small Woods Association are keen to ensure skills
and training in greenwood crafts and woodland
management are taught to a high and consistent
standard and have developed a suite of Open College
Network accredited courses.
All courses are taught by tutors who have many
years experience and are practitioners in the
areas they teach. The courses are designed to
provide the basic knowledge needed to allow course
participants to continue to practice and improve
their skills and are suitable for any one wishing
to improve their knowledge to a recognised standard.

to complete a woodland management plan.

5 day practical course covering splitting,
weaving, turning and charcoal making.

OCN Level 3 Introduction to Social Forestry
- September 4-5 and 18-19, 2010
4 day course covered over 2 weekends. The course
explores the physical, emotional and physiological
benefits woodlands have on people. The course
is both practical and theory split between classroom
and woodland teaching areas.

An intensive short course covering the practical
and theory for sustainable woodland management
promoting the need for balance between Biodiversity,
social and economic benefits of woodlands.
